ckck:
The Swedish 50 öre coin ceases to be legal tender tomorrow, and I can’t help but feel a little sad to see the very last öre coin go. The öre is our equivalent to the cent, pence, etc. and even though it has little practical use nowadays, it still feels like a piece of history is going away. When I was a kid, 50 öre was what a piece of bubblegum cost. When my parents were kids, you could buy ten pieces of fudge for 50 öre. In 1935, it was the price of a movie ticket. And now it’s no more, at least in physical form.
